Dietmar Gugler

is the current German show jumper talent trainer. He manages the C-Squad juniors and young riders as well as the squad prospects. Additionally, he is also in charge of the show jumping talent series.

Born: December 22, 1961

Residing at: Pfungstadt

Dietmar Gugler was born in Neckarteilfingen, close to Stuttgart. Already as a child, he earned his first merits in Level 0 show jumping events and young rider trials. In 1980 he started his apprenticeship as horse trainer with Fritz Ligges and won his first Level 6 event. In 1983 he joined the sports company of the German Armed Forces in Warendorf to do his military service. From 1984 to 1988 he worked with Fritz Ligges again and also placed third in the Westphalia Championships in 1984.

In 1988 he was offered to run the stables of the Dietmar Hofmann Foundation in Pfungstadt. 40 young riders were groomed there to achieve Level 6. Dietmar himself was part of 13 Nations Cups for Germany. On May 1, 1995, Gugler joined the stables of Paul Schockemöhle and was certified master horse trainer the same year. In 2001, he was named talent trainer show jumping.
